A child is born on a battlefield,

كودكي در ميدان جنگ به دنيا آمده است

A soldier boy falls to his knees,

سربازي زانو مي‌زند

And a woman cries in joy and pain,

و زني از شادي و درد مي‌گريد

When will we all live in peace again?

چه گاه دوباره در صلح خواهيم زيست؟

A child is born where the wild wind blows,

كودكي به دنيا آمده آنجا كه باد وحشي مي‌وزد

In a country torn from the south to the north,

در سرزميني كه از جنوب تا شمال تكه تكه شده

And a family runs from day to day,

و خانواده‌اي كه روز به روز مي‌گريزند

When will we see our home again?

چه گاه دوباره خانه‌مان را خواهيم ديد؟

When will we see that simple truth,

چه وقت  به اين حقيقت ساده مي‌رسيم

That the only thing that's worth a damn,

كه جنگ، تنها سزاوار لعنت است

جان يك كودك از جنگل مهم‌‌تر است

جان يك كودك از مرز مهم‌تر است

Could ever be;

آيا روزي فراخواهد رسيدكه اينچنين شود؟

A child is born in the desert sun,

كودكي زير خورشيد صحرا به دنيا آمده است

A tiny life has just begun,

زندگي كوچكي آغاز مي‌شود

And a mother cries for her hungry babe,

و مادري براي كودك گرسنه‌اش مي‌گريد

When will I feed my boy again?

چه گاه به كودكم غذا خواهم داد؟

A child is born to an ordinary home,

كودكي در يك خانه‌ي عادي به دنيا آمده است

East or west, it could be anyone,

شرق يا غرب، هر كجا مي‌تواند باشد

But we all want to know,

اما همه مي‌خواهيم بدانيم

Will my child survive to see the day,

آيا كودكمان زنده خواهد ماند تا روزي را ببيند

When we will be secure again?

كه دوباره در امان باشيم؟

When will we see the simple truth,

چه وقت  به اين حقيقت ساده مي‌رسيم
